I wrote this fiction over the Summer 2025. I thought it would be funny to do a "Walter Mitty" story of this fanciful fellow who pulls up to a stop light and dreams through an entire flirty meet-cute, introduction, seduction and world-travel he's planning to do with a woman who catches his eye. But as I started writing it, I realized that was creepy, that he was an unreliable narrator and a bit of a putz, and that the relationship might not go the way he first imagined. This is one of a series of shorts I did as told from the point-of-view of men I do not admire, trying to get in their heads.

"I'm just getting the car up to speed when the next light turns yellow. I think about plowing through it, but the cops are everywhere this morning. I press the brakes, and when I look over, next to me again is that girl. She has short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a wistful pout. She smiles at me. I'm probably imagining it."
